City-Wide Catch Basin Cleaning Now Underway

Post Date:04/21/2026 8:23 AM

The Wastewater and Street Departments have officially started their joint catch basin cleaning program today, April 21. This combined effort is essential to our community and is expected to take several weeks to complete.

Why is this being done?

The grates along our curbs—known as catch basins—are the first stop for rainwater. Over time, they collect leaves, mud, and trash. If they get too full, water cannot drain properly, which can cause street flooding during heavy rain. By working together, our departments can ensure the storm system is ready for the next big storm.

What to expect in your neighborhood:

  • Equipment: Residents will see large vacuum trucks and crew members from both departments working along the curb lines.
  • Safety: We ask that you please use caution when driving near our workers and equipment.
  • Schedule: Crews will be working during daylight hours throughout the week.

A Friendly Community Reminder

While our crews are working on the drains outside, you can help us protect the pipes inside! Please remember that wipes and rags should always go in the trash. Even wipes labeled "flushable" do not break down like toilet paper and can cause messy backups in our system.

We appreciate your cooperation as our teams work together to keep our streets clear and safe!
