Bartender/Server

Position Summary

The Bartender/Server provides exceptional front-of-house hospitality, serving food and beverages to guests at the golf course clubhouse facility. This dual-role position is responsible for mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, taking accurate dining orders, delivering meals, and maintaining an organized, welcoming bar and dining area. Operating in accordance with municipal policies, local liquor laws, and strict food safety standards, this position plays a key role in providing an outstanding experience for golfers, event guests, and the general public.

Responsibilities

Guest Service & Hospitality

  • Provide exceptional service standards for all clubhouse guests.
  • Greet visitors warmly, take accurate food and beverage orders, and make menu recommendations.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating to the Food Service Manager when necessary.
  • Foster a welcoming, professional, and friendly atmosphere for golfers, tournament participants, and community members.

Bar & Dining Operations

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and municipal policies.
  • Verify guest identification to ensure compliance with state and local age requirements for alcohol consumption.
  • Deliver food and drinks efficiently from the kitchen and bar to dining tables or patio areas.
  • Set up, maintain, and clear bar and dining areas to ensure a clean and inviting environment.

Financial & Administrative Tasks

  • Accurately process guest payments, including cash, credit cards, and club tabs, utilizing the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Manage a cash drawer, perform daily reconciliations, and follow municipal financial policies and cash handling procedures.
  • Assist the management team with inventory tracking, restocking bar supplies, and identifying vendor ordering needs.

Teamwork & Event Coordination

  • Maintain close coordination between front-of-house operations and the kitchen team.
  • Assist with food and beverage service for outings, leagues, tournaments, banquets, and special events.
  • Maintain a professional, team-oriented work environment, stepping in to support coworkers during high-volume periods.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in bartending and table service, preferably within a golf course, clubhouse, or municipal hospitality operation.
  • Strong knowledge of drink recipes, wine pairings, and proper alcohol handling procedures.
  • Familiarity or certification with local alcohol service laws and licensing requirements.
  • Experience working banquets, tournaments, or large events is highly preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, active listening, and communication skills.
  • Basic math and point-of-sale (POS) system operation skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

License and Certification Requirements

  • Experience in bartending and table service, preferably within a golf course, clubhouse, or municipal hospitality operation.
  • Strong knowledge of drink recipes, wine pairings, and proper alcohol handling procedures.
  • Familiarity or certification with local alcohol service laws and licensing requirements.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in bartending or high-volume table service

Reporting Structure & Management Responsibilities

  • This position reports directly to the Food Service Manager.
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds multiple times during a shift (e.g., ice buckets, cases of beer, liquor boxes). The employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods, reach with arms and hands, and use hands to handle glasses, pour drinks, and carry trays. The vision abilities required include close vision to verify identifications and operate the POS system.

Equipment Operated

Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal, draft beer systems, commercial blenders, ice machines, soda guns, and standard bar utility tools.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee operates in a public bar and dining room setting.The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to loud, particularly during tournaments, league nights, and banquets. The passage of employees and guests through the work area is average to high.
