Food Service Manager
Position Summary
The Food Service Manager oversees all restaurant and food service operations at the golf course clubhouse facility. This position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining food quality and safety standards, supervising staff, managing inventory and costs, and ensuring a welcoming dining experience for golfers, event guests, and the public. The manager plays a key role in establishing the restaurant as a premier dining destination within the community while operating in accordance with municipal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operations Management
- Direct daily operations of kitchen, bar, and dining service.
- Ensure efficient coordination between front- and back-of-house teams.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and municipal regulations.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures.
- Staff Leadership
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise food service staff.
- Maintain a professional, team-oriented work environment.
- Conduct performance reviews and corrective coaching when necessary.
- Ensure adequate staffing for peak golf seasons, tournaments, and special events.
- Customer Service
- Provide exceptional service standards for all guests.
- Address guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Foster a welcoming atmosphere for golfers, visitors, and community members.
- Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Manage food, beverage, and labor costs to meet budget targets.
- Track revenue, prepare reports, and monitor financial performance.
- Oversee inventory control, purchasing, and vendor relations.
- Follow municipal financial policies, purchasing procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Program & Menu Oversight
- Assist in menu planning, pricing, and seasonal offerings.
- Coordinate food service for outings, leagues, tournaments, and banquets.
- Develop promotions and special events to increase participation and revenue.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in golf course, clubhouse, or municipal hospitality operations.
- Event or banquet service management background.
- Alcohol service certification or licensing familiarity.
- Proven experience managing restaurant or food service operations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and health regulations.
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, and inventory systems.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
License and Certification Requirements
- Valid ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the food service industry.
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
Reporting Structure & Management Responsibilities
- This position reports to the Parks Superintendent.
- This position directly supervises all food service staff.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds multiple times during a shift.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.
