Activities Assistant - Elder Haus Senior Center
Position Summary
You will work closely with the Director and Assistant Director to ensure a vibrant and fulfilling atmosphere that promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being for all members. This is a part-time position that requires working between 15 and 25 hours per week.
Responsibilities
The Activities Assistant helps plan, organize, and lead engaging and meaningful recreational, social, and educational activities for members of our senior community. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and enthusiastic with a passion for enriching the lives of older adults.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience working with seniors in a similar role or environment is preferred but not required.
- Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a positive, energetic, and empathetic demeanor, with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must possess strong time management and multitasking skills to manage and lead multiple events.
License and Certification Requirements
- Must hold a valid “for-hire endorsement” or acquire a license within 3 months of accepting the position.
- Must be willing to become certified in PAT (Passenger Assistance Techniques).
- Able to become CPR and First-Aid certified within one year of accepting the position.
Education & Experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Reporting Structure & Management Responsibilities
- This position reports to the Senior Center Director.
Physical Demands
- The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to operate office equipment, including telephone and computer keyboard, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand and walk, and may be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment
- The employee is occasionally exposed to bodily waste, tissue, or fluids.
- Must be able to negotiate with mentally distraught persons.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly working with various people and must be able to work effectively with them, always prioritizing the best interests of the members and staff at the senior center.
